Overcomers Dinner Series
A small group of guys supporting each other through hard stuff. Six dinners over twelve weeks.
First small group beginning Thursday, August 27th, 6:30 PM, on James Island
What It Is
A dinner series supporting guys going through something hard.
We’ll meet every other week for 12 weeks—six dinners total. We’re asking each guy who joins to do his best to attend at least four of the six dinners.
Location: James Island
Between dinners, we’ll stay connected through a group chat and encourage everyone to check in and connect with each other several times throughout the week.
The goal is to create a small group of guys who actually know what’s going on in each other’s lives and can support one another through a difficult season.
How it works
At the end of the 12 weeks, we’ll transition to a new group of guys who need support. If you reach the end and are still going through it and need the group, we can talk together about what continued support might look like.
But if you’re feeling more solid and ready to move forward, we’re going to ask you to help us find another guy who needs your seat.
A few things to be clear about
This is not a therapy group.
This is not a recovery group.
No one in the group is serving as a trained mental health or recovery professional.
This is new. We will be learning in the process.
The Intentions
Sharing a simple dinner, talking honestly on 6 themes, listening, encouraging each other, and staying connected.
We’ll ask everyone to contribute a little toward each dinner when they can. That could mean bringing some food or pitching in a small amount toward the cost of the meal.
Conversations
Over 6 meals, we will move through the following topics together.
Dinner 1: Our Stories
Dinner 2: Our Loss and Grief
Dinner 3: Our Changing identities
Dinner 4: Our Character Growth
Dinner 5: Our Connection and Community
Dinner 6: Our Giving Back
